Pacific Business News - October 27, 2023 - Oahu-based Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery, owned and operated by Dr. Shim Ching, recently announced plans to open a new "state-of-the-art" facility and ambulatory surgery center in Honolulu next year.

According to an Oct. 27 announcement from the company, the facility “will be the largest freestanding aesthetic medicine practice” in Hawaii, encompassing nearly 11,000 square feet, with three operating rooms.

“We believe that the physical environment plays a crucial role in the overall well-being of our patients. Our thoughtfully designed architecture aims to create a sanctuary where individuals can embark on their transformative journeys in an atmosphere of comfort and sophistication,” said Ching, a board-certified plastic surgeon who has practiced in Hawaii for nearly two decades.

Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery expects to unveil the new offices in June of 2024 at Nauru Tower on 1330 Ala Moana Blvd. It will replace the current clinic, officials with the company confirmed to Pacific Business News.

Peter Vincent Architects is the architectural and design firm on the “estimated multi-million dollar build,” according to a representative with Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery. A representative told PBN that this project started conceptually about two-and-a-half years ago, but in the past several months, the company “began the remodel, which included gutting out the space.”

Peter Vincent, managing partner of Peter Vincent Architects, said in a statement, “The design of the new Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery center at Nauru Tower will be a serene, spa-like environment showcasing sweeping ocean views across Ala Moana Park. In addition to the stunning views, soothing natural forms and materials will provide a connection to Hawaii’s outdoors.

“Dr. Ching shares our vision of architectural excellence in health care. Together, we are committed to providing a truly exceptional experience, where beauty, innovation and personalized care converge,” Vincent added.

Peter Vincent Architects previously partnered with Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery at its current 3,700-square-foot office in the Hale Pawaa building on South Beretania Street. According to the firm’s website, the office's design was awarded the 2012 Renaissance Building and Remodeling Grand Award by Building Industry Association of Hawaii.

“We chose [Peter Vincent Architects] due to their track record of working closely with clients’ specific technical needs, incorporating those seamlessly into bright, modern spaces,” Ching said in a statement. “We knew the space at Nauru Tower was extremely special. With floor-to-ceiling window views of the Pacific Ocean, we wanted patients and staff to be able to enjoy that pristine landscape during their visit and to bring a piece of that natural beauty into the office. The goal was that it wouldn’t feel hospital-like, but that it would continue to have all the functionality and features of a world-class ambulatory surgery center while resonating beauty.”

Officials with Asia Pacific Plastic Surgery said the company employs more than 50 part- and full-time staff. Ching specializes in cosmetic surgeries and offers treatments such as plastic surgery, breast and body augmentation, facelifts, liposuction, Botox, laser treatment, cool sculpting and more.
