2021 BIA Awards: PVA and MHPB win for Multi-generational Residence

The 2021 Building Industry Association (BIA) Building Industry Design & Construction Awards were held virtually to celebrate the top construction and design projects in Hawaiʻi. The team of Mokulua High Performance builders along with Peter Vincent Architects received Grand Awards in the Residential and Green Design Categories with the Multi-Generational LEED Platinum Residence. The energy-efficient home features five bedrooms and three bathrooms on the main floor and an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) and garage on the street level.

The exterior materials of the house were chosen for their clean lines and warm features, like the cedar shiplap siding with a seamlessly integrated front entry door. The kitchen serves as the central hub of the house providing a gathering space for family and entertaining with clear views of the with indoor-outdoor living spaces. Sustainable elements include natural ventilation and three Tesla Power-walls to provide 36-40 Kilowatt-hours per day of energy storage.
