Description

Wondering what it is like to work at an award-winning, boutique architectural and interior design firm? PVA invites current undergraduate and graduate students studying architecture (or related fields) to apply for its annual summer internship program. Interns will gain first-hand experience and become immersed in PVA’s work and the day-to-day experience of design professionals. This internship is a full-time, paid opportunity.

interior designer

Description

The Interior Designer assists the Interior Design Manager or Project Manager in the interior design and FF&E selection and procurement of the project and as such is primarily responsible for conceptual interior design, space planning, interior design development, and FF&E selection, specification, procurement, and installation. Ensures assigned Interior Design project tasks are in accordance with the firm’s policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and modifies interior design drawings and FF&E selection according to established standards. 
  • Conducts and documents: Interior Survey; FF&E selection and product evaluation; Analysis of alternatives and design parameters; Specifications; Drawings; Space Planning
  • Responsible for the accuracy of assigned work.
  • Responsible for production and preliminary check of the interior design work.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Contributes to project team morale and motivation.
  • Develops knowledge of all aspects of interior design.
  • Understands the scope and requirements.
  • Maintains proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Reviews documentation of meetings and written communications prepared by the Project Manager.
  • Develops up to date knowledge of products and materials.
  • Develops proficiency in interfacing design work with architectural construction documentation.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design required.
  • Advanced degree a plus.
  • Experience in Interior Design a plus.

project architect 

Description

The Project Architect is the design and technical leader of the project and as such, plans and supervises the project tasks that result in the overall design and preparation of schematic, design development, and construction documents for the project. Ensures all aspects of the project design and technical production are in accordance with the firm’s policies, procedures, and standards.Manages the bidding, permitting and construction administration phases of the project.

Primary Duties

  • Conceives, designs, and prepares working drawings for new or modified structures. Performs a variety of complicated problem-solving tasks.
  • Responsible for daily supervision of architectural design and technical development of projects.
  • Manages the PVA architectural design and production team.
  • Coordinates the technical efforts of Consultants and Engineers.

Responsibilities Associated with Primary Duties

  • Establishes design / analysis parameters together with the Principle in Charge and Project Manager.
  • Responsible for the quality control of the design / analysis function and discipline.
  • Plans and supervises overall preparation of: Calculations; Equipment selection and product evaluation; Analysis of alternatives and design parameters; Specifications; Drawings; Coordination with other technical disciplines (Engineers and Consultants); Code Research; Site Surveys; System and design concepts.
  • Provides leadership to other members of the technical team.
  • Maintains awareness of the individual technical capabilities of the project team and seeks specialized help when needed.
  • Responsible for the technical accuracy of each segment of the work.
  • Is responsible for the final check of the technical work or for making arrangements to have the Principle in Charge or other qualified person to perform the final check.
  • Ensures that company policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to.
  • Maintains project team morale and motivation.
  • Develops total project contract documentation and coordination.
  • Maintains and develops high degree of knowledge of all aspects of architecture.
  • Understands the scope and requirements.
  • Maintains proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Reviews documentation of meetings and written communications prepared by the Project Manager.
  • Monitors project schedule provided by Project Manager.
  • Monitors man-hour schedule provided by Project Manager. Monitors weekly hours expended versus hours remaining.
  • Maintains and develops proficiency in building code and ordinance analysis.
  • Maintains and develops proficiency in interfacing design work with construction documentation through the Project Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture required.
  • Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Architecture license not required, but preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years architecture experience required.
