Lanikai Hillside Residence

Originally designed and built in the 1960's by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, this funky yet sensational house suffered from years of exposure to the harsh windward coast.

One of the primary design challenges with the renovation was to maintain openness to the fabulous views, while incorporating a modern kitchen, entertainment center and storage. Custom-built windows, doors and skylights were also integrated into the design to withstand the elements and enhance the picturesque scenery.

The character of the house was maintained, yet it was lightened and original antiquated "bohemian" materials were replaced with more sophisticated palette that emphasizes the spirit of the house. Furnishings were selected and custom designed to become a part of the overall design palette.
