The central stairways provide every room on the second floor a unique view of either the rising Koolau Mountain Range or the white sandy beaches. The separation of the two-story “wings” allows for the great room space to have a towering roof with cathedral ceilings and high windows. Based on the home’s proximity to the ocean and to plan for possible flooding and sea-level rise, the house is raised above the regulated flood elevation.
