At PVA, we’re excited to offer an additional way to bring your project to life. Our new 3D printer allows us to quickly turn design concepts into detailed, physical models you can see and touch. This helps clarify complex ideas, encourages collaboration, and speeds up the decision-making process — so you can feel confident in every step of the design. It’s a cost-effective tool that supports smarter, more inspired solutions for your project.
Summer intern Jason Choi has led the effort provides an update to his experience as an intern with PVA. “Coming into Peter Vincent Architects and working on luxury residential homes as an intern was an invaluable opportunity with a leading architecture firm in Hawaii and getting first hand insight on how they operate on a daily basis. As a summer intern, I was tasked with building a physical model for one of their ongoing projects, alongside a range of other tasks/experiences including site visits and sitting in client meetings, hands-on exposure that simply can’t be taught in school. Going on site visits gave me a unique perspective to see how different design concepts and techniques are translated from merely an idea to reality. Seeing these luxury homes up close highlighted the creative possibilities as every project pushed design boundaries and innovation.
One highlight of the internship was working with their newly acquired 3D printer to produce the physical model. I had the chance to manage the process from start to finish, including learning and applying ArchiCAD, a software that fewer firms use today, but one that greatly expanded my technical skill set. Being able to learn this software and understand its workflow has added another tool to my design toolkit that I know will be applicable in the future.
Beyond the technical aspects, what made the experience truly rewarding was the supportive and collaborative environment at PVA. I learned a great deal from every team member I worked with, each willing to share their knowledge and insight. It was clear that PVA brings in people who align well with the firm's values and culture, and intentional about professional growth.
Overall, this summer internship as a current student has been both educational and inspiring, giving me a deeper appreciation for high-end residential architecture in Hawaii and the collaborative effort it takes to bring beautiful, functional homes to life.”
